Education and Outreach The North Olympic Salmon Coalition is here for you! Classroom visits and service learning projects tailored to your curriculum and educational interests are available upon request. Our educational booth staffed with knowledgeable experts and volunteers is available for festivals and community events. We are happy to present to your club, class, or community group about any of the following topics: salmon biology and lifecycle, watersheds, riparian processes, restoration, macroinvertebrates and volunteering for salmon on the Olympic Peninsula. Contact Kai Wallin kwallin@nosc.org for more information.
FIN, a 25-foot female chum salmon, is part of NOSC's salmon education and outreach program. FIN has her own trailer and is available for rental for festivals, school events, or other public and educational functions. Learn More here! Salmon Habitat Enhancement Activity A great tool has been developed to demonstrate the process of restoring salmon habitat with hands on models. Check out the Enviroscape Nonpoint Source/Runoff Model for a great way to demonstrate stream restoration and salmon habitat enhancement to classes or community groups.
NOSC now has a Salmon Trunk that is available for reservation. This great educational tool helps teach school and other groups about Salmon and the role and importance of the watershed. The trunk includes games, visual aides, books and other display and interactive materials. Please contact us at our office by phone or e-mail if you are interested in reserving this awesome teaching tool! |
